Razvy,

One last tidbit of information. I looked up what the color was called for Ford grey, and it is listed as Forest Grey. Couldn't find anything more than that, other than it stated that all 9N's and 2N's were painted that color.

Greg

Hi Razvy,

Hope you don't mind my butting in on this thread.

On the left, there is a place to click to find the paint codes for specific tractor brands. It lists three types of grey for Ford. They are: Ford grey, light grey, and medium grey. I am completely guessing that you are the medium grey with your 9N and that I am the light grey with my 2N. My limited understanding of the early Fords leads me to believe that each tractor was one color only, and that multi-colored tractors were not until the 8N's came out. Hopefully someone can chime in and verify or dispute this, as I am going to be painting soon as well.

Thanks,
Greg

Greg , I see the paint codes on the left, problem is that states only FORD , no model no. or year , I wold like to know if on our 9N they have 2 shades of grey ? I understand that Rustoleum is a god choice .

Razvy - I am hoping someone will confirm which of the three shades goes to each of our tractors (9N and 2N). I think that your 9N is darker than my 2N is supposed to be. In either case, I believe that the rims, hubs, tranny, engine, hood, and everything else is supposed to be only one color for each tractor.

As far as Rustoleum goes, I have some experience with their tractor series paints. DO NOT expose the rustoleum painted surfaces to gasoline or gasoline vapor for at least a month!!! It will flake and then fall off. If you can wait a month, it will be OK. Until a month passes, it will also be very prone to scrathes as it takes forever to harden. Also, the enamel that you spray on with a paint gun will look much better than than the paint that comes in the spray cans. Use hardener for extra gloss if that is what you want. If you are after EXPO quality, then maybe something more elaborate is in order.
