It was sitting out on a busy highway in front of a used car lot. Original finish no doubt so faded and cracked paint but all original except for replaced side distributor. Started right up and purred great. Only problem is price $2,950 and the buyer said "I have a dozen of these things at the farm and if I sell it fine and if I don't fine." Sounds real high and he didn't seem like he wanted to get the price down where it was reasonable. I'm thinking of getting my 9N a relief tractor.

If he has a dozen of them at the farm, ask him if ye can look at them for a possible buy. He might have one that fits ye pocketbook there!!!

For what it is worth, here in Ohio, the prices of the N-series tractors is cyclic. A few years ago, they were worth $2k to $3k in decent condition. Now, many of these same tractors are not able to bring in much over $1200. Wait a few more years, and they will go back up. Same goes for the Farmalls and many others. The only brand that is unfailingly overpriced are the Deeres.

No, I don't really want it. I thought it overprived by double and he seemed to have the "throw enough excrement against the wall to see if some would stick" theory on selling.

I got my first N ('47) for taking it away and transporting my brother-in-laws International 340. It wasn't running. 15 lbs compression in #1 & #2. Haven't done the rebuild yet. Second one ('44)was from Ebay for $600.00. Had to drive from upstate NY, near Albany, half way accross Long Island. This one didn't run either, but it came with about $1000.00 worth of new parts. Seller gave up on a restore. New hood, grill, restored fenders, new dist., 2 sets of plugs, 3 sets of points, 3 dist. caps..... . The engine is now on the '47 and is running.

I'll see if I canmake the link work. The grey one is the '47 and the yellow and red one (YUCK)is the '44.

Look who is selling it. In 50 years of driving, I only bought 4 vehicles from dealers. I feel lucky. Years ago they would not complete transaction on anything for less than $500. What would that num ber be now? Unless you need them for financing, keep movin' A better deal is around the corner.

I will differ from others it may be well worth the price and may be worth $950 its hard to say wif out be’n their to look it over. I spec you need to find out what to look fer far as ware and tear on a N izz concerned so you will have a better trained eye when look’in. most enny N will need $1000.00 in fix up’s to git it in tip top shape but its how soon it will be needed that’s the concern. My turn offs, cracked engine block, worn tires, rear axle hub ware, weak hydraulics, oil leaks, steer’in ware in the box and tie rods, cooling system, condition, the inside of the fuel tank, Oil pressure HOT, Tin, Has it had a loader on it look fer a non OEM front crank pulley and a oil pan wif a long crack that has been welded up (run as fast as you kin) It may be the crank pully has been replaced but if the OEM ratchet nut has been replaced wif a slotted head type bolt it had a loader on it no doubt, loaders aint to kind to a N. Guess I am look’in fer the perfect N ain’t I. Sumtimes if you git enuff good equipment wif a n you may git a free tractor, Equitment sells good.
What makes me look the other way izz a nice hood and fenders but they are far and few apart but I like to run my hand across a nice hood. I also concider a N wif a original grill in great shape to be taken as one that has been looked after well. I have found only one that way but the engine wuz worn out but still gave it a home.

That is way too high.
For that kind of money or just a little more you can get a good NAA or 600.
If you like your N you would really like a Jubilee as it"s helpmate.

If the tires were new or near new, the hourmeter worked and showed under a 1000 hours, the oil pressure was 50 lbs warm, sheet metal was excellent and it had a sherman transmission it might be worth it. Otherwise the seller is blowing smoke!

Wow, maybe it depends on where you're at, but sounds considerably overpriced to me.
I paid $2600 for my 8N in near show condition.

If you really want (need) it, go in there with a stack of cash and offer a lower bid. He has to know he's overpriced it.
Maybe his mind will change when he sees a fanfold of cash in front of his face.
