Howdy, gang...do most of my reading/posting in the other Ford forum on YT, but I venture in here from time to time. Anyway, did a search and came up empty...here's my question: I've seen quite a few 9/2/8Ns on ebay (and even a couple in real life) that had an automotive-style 5-lug front hub. Where do these hubs come from? Were (or are) they an aftermarket conversion, or did hubs from a plain ol' passenger car swap right over?

Reason I ask is one of my dad's N's has a FEL, and even though I'm pretty sure its days of working hard are over (we have an '88 2910 with a 6-foot Dual loader...talk about too much loader!), someday it might scoop some earth again, and I imagine it's not too hard to overload those poor ol' 4.00-19 tires with a full bucket, not to mention a lot harder to steer. I just thought being able to put wide rims and tires on the front might make things easier on me AND the tractor.

I reckon I could get my hands on a pair of 8N hubs and take them to a machine shop to have new wheel stud holes drilled, but if there's a hub that directly swaps onto the spindles, that sounds like the way to go.

Thanks for letting me ramble...
Pat

im relatively sure that the ford car and light truck 5 bolt hubs (2 WD ) will fit the spindle. One of my project Ns had that, but not sure what it came from. course you would have to drive the brake drum off. try hubs from early 90s back LTD,crown vic, merc marquis, car hubs. should be cheap too.

My 9N has the small circle 5 bolt front hubs. They still have the brake drums on them.

So -- you do not have to remove the brake drums.
