Any of you buy from " Cheap tractor parts"? What a rip off, starts out at $1.00, with a reserve of $50.00 or whatever? High shipping. Example tonight " 12 volt Conversion wireing diagram" price= start $2.95, buy it now $7.99. Shipping= $12.55. This is for a sheet of paper!!!Twenty guys/ gals on this board would email or post this for free ( and feel good about posting/ helping a fellow N/er out). This just burns my buns. P.T. said it best " a sucker born every minute."

I have bought from this place. They're in Kentucky as I recall. I went to their website (NOT ebay or eBay store). Found some better prices on a few piddly items than I could find on them elsewhere. Bought multiple items. I kept adding to my "shopping cart" until the base (minimum) shipping went up then stopped adding. I did not get good customer service from them, though. I sent them a question about a rear wheel-to-hub half-moon head bolt for my 9N. Never got a response. Went ahead and got them from Don B. In my opinion, there's a lot to be said about the service side of doing business. Stands right up there with product quality. I'll pay more for something to get the good service - even if the extra cost is guised in higher shipping.

Just my honest opinion - nothing more.

Well, what people are generally trying to do there if the shipping is very clearly labeled is not to cheat buyers, but to cheat ebay out of their fees that are based on the selling cost. You see this more and more, and I'm not sure what ebay can do about it unless they want to set a maximum for shipping. The 2$ buy it now item with $24 shippping is getting more and more common.

I love Ebay ! As long as all the prices are posted then you only have your self to blame if you pay too much. It is usually not the place to buy new parts from the dealer. I bought a complete 9n hydraulic pump for $78.85 including shipping.

Buyers need to be smarter than Ebay. If people pay too much, then they have only themselves to blame. I think people buy new parts on Ebay because they don't know where else to go, probably a lot of novices to the tractor world. All it takes is a little searching on the web to find plenty of other sources at the same or cheaper prices. There is always the New Holland dealer, which novices probably don't know carries Ford tractor parts.

And I believe many people don't take into account the shipping charge, new or used. Sure, something my have been won for a cheap or reasonable price, but by the time shipping is added, it could be bought cheaper elsewhere. They need to always find out the shipping cost first then add that to the bid price to get the final price.

Sure these sellers are taking advantage of the buyers, but the buyers are willing to be taken advantage of by buying the items. And Ebay is taking advantage too by getting their cut too.

I think their name says it all. "CHEAP" tractor parts.

I say to hell with quality, most important consideration of where to buy parts is saving a buck or two. Any place called "Cheap" probably means junky parts (ya know, most of those resold under Tisco's brand).

Everything I've bought from Tisco dealers is garbage. 9N starter cheap construction, bendix crummy construction, most gaskets were inferior compared to USA made-especially head gaskets & oil pan cork, radiator was China made, poor quality oil pressure spring, ultra thin rubber items, stiff wire looms, it's mostly crap is my history.

$9 shipping from a place calling itself Cheap isn't the ripoff, it's that its probably crap quality you get too.

I really concur!! These folks that charge EXORBITANT shippin' & "HANDLING" charges are evil!! However, the capitalist barstids at EBAY are finally takin' action..only because it rips them off as well, 'cause the Ebay only charges fees on the product cost, NOT S&H, so it is cheaper to sell a product 4 less than it is worth, and make up the difference in EXORBITANT S&H costs! I usderstand that they have been sending a bunch of Nastygrams 2 some folks about this practise! I personally don't charge more than the PO charges me when I sell something. The packin' materials and time to pack it is just part of the "cost of doin' business, as far as I concerned. Ebay really is goin' downhill and gettin chickenS*it about what they allow folk 2 sell and they are always INCREASIN' their ALREADY EXORBITANT FEES!! Meg & Pierre are too greedy! I am sure some folks will start a new auction service and EAT THEIR LUNCH!! But, for the short-term ...it is still the best way to sell stuffs on da net. 4 now. But their day of reckonin' is comin'!!

Tell me about the ever increasing fees! When I sell on ebay, by the time they get their initial posting fees, final value fees, PayPal transaction fees - I find I have really made only a few bucks on the sale - not really worth my time and gas to drive to the post office to ship the stuff.

As far as shipping costs - I almost always take a loss on heavy/bulky items. I ship UPS on these items and for example - I sold a left spindle arm a few weeks back. The final sale was $10, plus $15 shipping. Ebay and Paypal reduced the $10 sale price to around $5 I got in profit. UPS charged me $23 to ship the heavy spindle to a very rural address that costs extra - so my $15 shipping I got did not even cover the actual shipping - not to count my packing time and equipment, driving time and hassle, and gas. I figure I actually lost $10 or more on the deal by the time it was said and done, but if you charge more for shipping people start complaining.

I would love to see another online auction place start up.

Dan

Hey CC - when that new auction service starts up let me know. I sure missed the investment boat on the eBay startup.

For what it's worth, there are already a bunch of other on-line auction sites available. They are trying to capture the market, but most of the potential buyers are so ingrained to eBay that they won't even go looking elswhere. Yahoo has an auction, on-line auctions is another, blu-jay is another, and I have not even scratched the surface yet. Personally, I am waiting to see what Kim comes up with for an on-line auction site.

You all have good reasons for not liking that seller.
However, (you knew that was coming right) They have over 8000 transactions and show 99.7% positive feedback. Not bad I'd say.
The reason I mention this is because I just bought a 3000 tranny top cover from them this week. It is listed as for an 8 spd so I called them and asked if it would fit a 6X4. They actually took the time and looked it up in a FNH parts book and told me yes it would fit. Took about 10 minutes of their time. I bought it in a private sale - off Ebay - and it arrived 2 days later. You can't ask for better service than that.

I always EX-clude that seller AND a couple more from my searches. His selling style and knock-off junk really rubs me the wrong way.

I wouldn't buy something from him if he was the only one who had it.

I pert neer sure that sheet of paper came from K.LaRue-VA web site, Its ashame that sumone would copy it and sell it fer profit and I know K’s pizzed about it cuzz he wuz not asked iffin it would be alrite wif’em. I also think he offers it fer bout nuttin on ebay and gives the proceeds to charity. Recon one day the government will have to step in and save the ig’its that buy and do not do a search fer a comparable item on ebay. I have thought of run’in the same item and pert neer give it away also but that would put more money in ebays pocket’s to.

I can understand his unhappiness but this "business" of selling other peoples intellectual property on eBay is a quick and easy buck.

There's probably 1/2 dozen or more ads on there right now for a Parts and Operator's Guide for my Rockwell 11" lathe - all photocopies of the US Army's publication which is available for free in the files section of the Yahoo Rockwell Lathes group.

And there's another seller who hawks CD machine tool manuals - all scanned copies of the original Delta Rockwell manuals. Copy protects the CD's and threatens legal action if you make copies. And the CD's he's selling still have the Rockwell copyright notices in them!!! Pissed me off so bad I contacted Delta. They'll scan and send you anyting they've got for $5 a pop. I had them send me a high quality scan of a couple of "his" manuals and posted them on the Yahoo group.

If KLR wants to fight back just put up a BuyItNow offer for $.01 that points them to the website and asks for the $$$ to cover his expense. I was real tempted to do that with the old Rockwell pubs. If it was my personal intellectual property I'd be talking to eBay or fighting back with my own offer.

Apparently somebody does not have a printer, because they bid on my ad. So, his $5 goes to Salvation Army, and I am sending him a hard-copy of the diagrams, as well as a copy of my list of links to FREE n-tractor info on the web.
