A friend of mine has a 9N Ford, probably an early one since it had the cast aluminum dash, etc. This tractor has an air cleaner intake stack (with removeable cap) that goes right through a hole in the operator's right side rear of the hood. I have seen a number of photos of N series tractors and at least none of the photos I see have an air intake pipe coming up through the hood. Am I missing something here or have I just been looking at the wrong photos?

Nice tractors , Hope you don't mind the question ,: Why you painted the tractor red is not a 9N? originally was grey.

here is one of mine with a stack through the hood, it was ALL red when I bought it, at this time it is earning its keep in a wood lot pulling trailers with wood to the trucks, I sure needed chains last week as it was all ice, but it woked out ok,

hope the pic helps.

The through the hood air intake was a popular add-on accessory for the 9N and 2N tractors. It allowed cleaner air to be drawn into the air cleaner. The factory intake was under the hood, which tended to accumulate dirt.
