Ok... this may seem silly, but I am trying to change my steering wheel and cannot get the old one off. I removed the nut and the washer and gently tapped from the bottom of the old steering wheel.

Any tips?

Thanks in advance!
Patrick

If you have patience, you could try soaking in carb cleaner and/or Marvel Mystery oil.
Or you could 'strong arm it'. With the nut on about half way, grab opposite sides of the wheel and wiggle it up and down (one side up, the other down). Try several positions around the wheel and it should come free eventually. Make sure the nut is on a few threads so you don't do any damage AND go flying and hurt yourself.

Good luck.

I have not seen a steering wheel on an N that needed a puller yet.
Just stand on the boards with the acorn nut on 2 turns and use Mountainmans' method.
She'll come...

The steering wheel on my 1950 8n was one of the tightest things I have ever had the misfortune of removing. I had to buy a bigger puller and soak the assembly in penetrating oil for two days. I then tightened the puller as tight as I dared and used heat on it. When it let go, it ended up half way across the shop. Be sure to use something between the puller and the hollow threaded steering shaft to prevent damaging the threads. Good luck
