Fellas, my N serial is 126525 I always thought this meant 1943 2N. Am I looking cross-eyed at this book. Two people have told me this is a 9N? I am lookin at F04. Does 1943 start with 105375 to 126537, then 126538 would start 1944 or not? Thanks.

Dave..... ..congratats, you have the "braggin' rights" to one of the LAST MADE 1943 2N's. Remember, all 2N's serial numbers start with 9N. Yes, you are correct, according to my copy of the FO-4, 1944 2N's started with s/n 126538. Therefore your 126525 is 13 tractors earlier than 1944..... ...Dell

Why they say it's a 9N in reply to Dell (WA), 02-02-2007 21:07:31
Lot of the oldtimers went with the "looks like a duck" school of thought. Ford dropped the 9N designation, but everyone knew what Ford's tractors looked like and they were 9Ns. So what if Ford called the 42 through 47 models 2Ns? They looked like ducks, sounded like ducks, walked like ducks and even said "duck" in the serial number. Therefore, they must be ducks.

Simple, eh?

Russ
