Hello, this is what I have, thinking about selling my Ford 1939 9n tractor, serial number is *9n75*. This tractor needs a complete make over, sheet metal is there but needs lots of work, No Aluminum. tires are history. Not running. I just thought since the serial number is a very early one that it might be worth something. Basically, if someone is restoring a very early 9n tractor and is looking for a very early serial number well here is one. I do have a price in mind, but I just wanted to get a feel for what the tractor world thinks. Please email me with your own thought on what you think something like this would be worth. thanks for your time, Anthony

Those of us who like the very early N's will always get excited by a low serial number '39.

The important thing in determining value is to assess how much you have there that is really original. Dealers often swapped out a worn engine for a rebuilt one to get the tractor back to the customer faster. You could have a '39 engine in a '41 tractor, for example.

Take pictures, lots of them, and post them. Be sure to include close ups of the dash, three point hitch, both wheel hubs, and the generator. I can email you a list of things to look for.

I bought the '39 that I am restoring from a seller 2000 miles away. Before we closed the deal he has sent me 20 pictures and a detailed list of all of the original equipment on the tractor.

IMHO, you will need to do this to get a truly fair price.

With no aluminum any where it is highly likely that the engine was a replacement put into a later 9N or even 2N. That was done a lot. Several guys have hybreds that are half 9N/2N and half 8N, since the engines swap out as direct replacements.

To the right guy that block would be worth much more than it is to the rest of us. I hope you can find him.

You probably should put an ad in the YT add section. Also check out the ads in the N-Newsletter. Both would give you a wider audience.

The value in a early 9n comes from the aluminum hood, aluminum front grill, aluminum dash and transmission cover. Smooth rear hubs helps a lot.

Without those items the only thing of extra value is the engine block for someone who is restoring an early 9n and needs a low serial numbered block to match.

Give us a price that you think it is worth . Make sure you add a note that the price is what you feel its worth but the actual value might be something to work on. 95% of the users here are thoughtful people that will be glad to help you . Just ignore any rude remarks , most of them really were intended to be an honest opinion that comes across rude in the way its worded.
