I have the right to speak for all the others he has run off of this fine board over the years. One of these days you will be counted among them. It's just a matter of time till he gets you. I guess the NC stands for NO CLUE. When he tells people
"It should be intuitively obvious" he is saying to them that they are stupid. Things that are intuitively obvious to a graduate engineer are not intuitively obvious to a high school drop out. He is condescending in most of his post. He speaks "down" to people. If you don't mind that I guess you deserve it. Maybe it applys to you too. And, by the way, what does "Howsomever" mean? I can't find it in the english language dictionary. And what are "Sparkies"? These high school dropouts (and there are a lot of them on here)can't understand what he is saying. Yes, he has "style", but it's the wrong style. He could better serve the posters on this board if he would use proper and coherant english and speak to them as if they had as least a semblance of a brain. I give myself the right to say the above and you should too when you see an injustice being done to those less fortunate than you. James

No complaints on anyone. When you ask or comment, you have to take response according to the mood people are in. For edumacation I have 5 years of college and tech school, but when you are 64 and have a nervous breakdown, lot of that goes out the window. Live for today, forget about yesterday. Sometimes posts show up in order that looks like somebody is giving a smart answer and they really are not. People like me don't always say what they mean. Some know but cannot explain. Give them a break til you walk a mile in their shoes. When I was young I blasted everybody, now everybody blasts me and I wonder why. Every dog has his day. Pass the alpo, please.

Hey old iron lovers - Just got back from Amarillo and I see Dell's in the front page AGAIN! So, instead of talking about old iron, we are flexing our testostrone over polictical correctness(?)

To all you Dell "haters" - if you do not like Dell's "style" - don't read his posts - simple eh? We all know he comes off rude and gruff - why does this surprise you all still? If you have a beef with how he answered YOUR post - send him a "happy gram" offline from this board and address it personally instead of continuously dragging it through this public forum.

And - for all you guys who seem to have a "Man Crush" for Dell - I have been here quite some time, and I am sure Dell is more than capable of defending himself if needs be. Funny - in all the posts I have seen about this issue (and there have been many), I do not recall seeing Dell himself fanning the flames...

Personally - I believe still that it takes all kinds of personalities to address all the issues that arise from working on, and keeping these great machines running. These types of posts DO NOT address any of this - UNDERSTAND? (sorry - I couldn't resist) Bash away on me if you want - I don't care either.

Hey - I saw 2 8Ns hiding back off the road on my way to Palo Duro canyon (yes, I was swerving and making my wife very nervous) - they are everywhere! Now - isn't that better?

Dan

Ummm, So far he has attacked Dell, Ross, everyone that lives in NC, and everyone that didn't finish high school.

I have my diploma.

But I have a lot of smart friends that don't, and a lot of stupid friends that do.

AND yes, I/WE should have ignored the troll.

(but we didn't)

LMAO!!

Well - you may have let him set the hook, but at least you didn't swallow it :-)

Say - since we are already taking up bandwidth and server space on off topic issues - you ever try a Spanish Peaks Brewery Black Dog Ale? I found some in Amarillo and it was purty darn good. Luckily I couldn't stand dial up speeds, or I would have logged on last night as Dan...Drunk LOL

Since you brought up such things, I wonder if Dell could have access to any fresh hops up that way? I don't know when they are harvested but I do know fresh is better and I am wanting to make another batch of wheat beer soon.

Jeeze, we did this type of thing a week ago, and ran some members off with the tremendous amount of negative attitude.

Hey, wouldn't it be nice if we all liked only vanilla ice cream, and all talked in exactly the same dialect, and could understand every word and nuance, and could spell with perfect "Webster dictionary" spelling. And then in our off hours, we all drank only the same beer, or the same brand of coffee, liked our fried eggs only sunny side up, and we all painted our tractors exactly the same shade of red and gray, and all had exactly the same educational background. NOT!!!

I come to this board daily to read the discussions from many points of view. I truely enjoy the variety, and cherish the people who bring us that variety.

So DO NOT count me in on your rant over the actions, responses, and differences of our many members.

Me thinks winter has been too long, and some of us are beginning to show signs of possible carnivorous ancestors. Check your family tree.- said with a wry smile.

I'm not sure why you seem to have a chip on yer shoulder when it comes to Dell.

Did he embarrass you in some way or the other?

Ifn you don't like reading what he has to say, don't, pass right on over it.

I really get a kick out of some of his posts.

I know for a fact he ain't always right, and NEITHER am I, so what, but I DO like his company.

He has some VERY useful information in his posts, I am not qualified to speak on yours, as I haven't researched yours yet (but I probably will now). The last 2 or so I have seen from you are like an old lady on the PMS stuff.

I MISSED Dells posts when he was away.

I bet if this site had a poll topic, you would see that you are a minority when it comes to yer thoughts on Dell's posts.

I grew up in a different world than we live in today.

Lots of the folks here take me back to that time quite often, in one way or another, for one reason or another.

Most of the time I understand exactly where Dell is coming from, and have known folks in real life just like he comes across on here.

Take a chill pill...

I am sorry you feel the way you do. The terms you used are "Slang" for spark plugs, etc.. I also have not graduated high school. But here I am with several years of tech school training and ASE certifications in A1(engine repair), A5(brakes and A8(engine performance) and also certifications in engine rebuilding. Where did that bring me? A nice comfortable living building NHRA racing engines. Not bad for a "Drop out". :O)

James, if you check the archives, you will see that this very topic comes up about every 6 months. I've offered my two cents worth more than once, so I'm not going to repeat myself. Instead, I'm going to suggest to those who are really interested in this topic that one of you conduct a survey to characterize Dell's responses. Consider every adjective that comes to mind, e.g.: blunt, rude, sarcastic, funny, amusing, colorful, forthright, honest, sharp, boorish..... .just include every one you can think of. I only ask that you specifically include HELPFUL. My bet is no matter what other boxes everyone checks, they will check helpful.

I think you made a good point there, in that the mans helpfullness far outweighs any character flaws that someone may or may not percieve, and we all have some of our own. I don"t always agree with Dells ways, but I glean the good stuff, keep what helps weed out what don"t and ignore the rest as his own unique-ness. and no, I can"t spell:^(
