Is it still critical to use copper core wires if you have converted to 12v and a round coil or will any good wires do?

I have both styles on two different 8n's with 12v systems and I dont have any problems with either.

More than likely, if you have the 12v system, and coil.. etc. then crbon core wires would be fine. however.. i still prefer the copepr core wires... they are just as cheap, can be cut to exact fit.. and unless you have a radio that is getting interference.. they provide max spark energy, if needed.

I too prefer copper plug wires for (everything) unless objectionable RFI is noticed.

I have copper wires on my 51 8N and I have noticed that the remote keyless entry for my car will not work when the N is running and within reception distance of the RKE system.

A minor annoyance but I do occassionally click the trunk opening button when driving the tractor into the barn near the car.

Or, get some spiral-wound high perfomance wire core spark plug wires, and have "the best of both worlds".

They suppress radio noise, yet have near-zero resistance, since they are wire core.

i imagine the spark gap / points themselves will be the issue..

Ever take a copper penny and a 9v battery and continously short the terminals near a boom box.. many of the cheaper ones will even pick that up.. some of hte nicer ones you actually need a cool of wire and a 9v battery (grin)
