have a 9n that has two different wheel hubs on the front, the noticeable difference is the spacing of the hub from the spindle, one side has 1/4" more space than the other . is this a problem? bearings are properly seated and properly installed. were there different hubs available?

If the inner brg starts to go out and the owner keeps running the tractor the spindle acts like a turning lathe and will take a 1/4" off the hub in a short time. Do you think this might have happened?

the seal is correctly installed as is the inner bearing race, if you measure the distance from the bottom of the bore for the inner race there is a difference of .128" the hub with the smallest measurement is thE one that has the extra spacing when installed. which one is correct and will it make any difference if one of each hub is used?

Do you have the dust seal [9n1190] installed in the end of the hub that goes toward the spindle? The rubber part of the seal should protrude about 1/4 outside the hub and rub against the spindle. don b

I dont have an answer to your question but I have often wandered about this myself. I have a'46 2N that has the same thing, just never thought to ask about it(If it aint broke dont fix it). But now that you've brought it up I'd like to know myself.I've never noticed the space difference, just that they are made different.
