i have an 8n #508336 i think you take a bolt out to put in oil but i don't know which one and if i do find the right one do you think synthetic gear oil would work better than conv. gear oil thanks

When you"re in the seat it will be the bolt on the upper right. I put the sinthetic lube in mine and it still leaked out very slowley. I replaced it with the cornhead grease two months ago and it shows no sign of leakage so far. The cornhead grease cost about half the price of the synthetic. At first I couldn"t find the hole either it was full of hard grunge. The back end of the bolt hole has a slot in the bottom of the threaded portion not the bottom of the whole. Use bent object to clear the hole. good luck

The only bolt on the later model 8n's seams to be the one's on either side that you fasten the dash frame to. I have the same problem. The early 8n's have a fill hole to fill and ck. As for the gear oil, for what little wear our N's recieve, I am sure that a 80w90 off the shelf will do.
