Got a stabalizer bar that is bent bad, is the best way to get it straight again to heat it and hammer it back to shape...or is hammering it without heat ok?

I got a replacement at Fam & Family for $10, but it's not a heavy or as good a quality. Plus I belive the bent one came with the tractor.

Thanks.

I think that the bars are not heat treated therefore heating should not hurt anything. Just measured mine that I just got at 2-3/4" by 3/16" thick. You paid ten bucks? I think I got taken! Also is it best to have two or does it matter that much?

Two bars are best. You can's bend one by pulling on it - with 2 one always takes the pull side. With only one it has to take a pushing affect one direction which will bend it if enough force is exerted on it.

I have always used two, seems like it would naturally give better control...but I have heard that if one is used it is common to put it on the adjustable arm side.

I would say 2 is better than 1. One will only stablize one side of the implement.
