Roy - Measure the width of the attachment points of the implements that you have. I thought about buying a QH recently, but saw that my implements varied widely in attachment point widths. Some would fit one brand of QH, some would fit another brand. No QH covered the complete range, so I dropped the idea.

I had sway bars hooked up with mine, but I had to replace the lower pins that came on the quick hitch with longer ones.

The QH wouldn't hook up easily to many of my CAT-1 implements. Kinda defeated the purpose it was intended to fix, so I gave it away. Hopefully the new owner can get it to work with his stuff.

Roy..... ..it should be intuitively obvious the Quick-Hitch and the under the fender mounted anti-swaybars are NOT compatable. And you NEED anti-swaybars for most 3-point implements to keep from running into the side of your $200 ag-bar reartires and tearing holes in tire. I can change any cat-1 3-point implement (including anti-swaybars) in less than 5-mins on my 8N. And I have some big and heavy implements..... ..Dell

Dell, I can't agree more, the quick hitch was a complete waste of time and money for me. That is why I could not re-sell it but simply gave it away to somebody else who was caught up in the dream.

After fiddling with it for a few days, I quickly realized I was actually spending MORE time hooking up implements than without the added confusion of the QuickHitch!

IFFF your implements match up, the Quick Hitch will work. But that is a BIG IFF when you are dealing with even one or two home-made implements.

However, I was able to connect the sway bars by using some longer CAT-1 pins where the lower links attach to my QuickHitch.

It took a little doing, and a "smoke wrench" and a welder, but I modified my oddball implements to fit the quickhitch, and it works GREAT, and is a REAL time and back saver.

On the contrary... in reply to Dell (WA), 03-02-2007 10:07:42
Actually, you can use the anti-sway bars with the quick hitch.

I had a quick hitch on my 8N for YEARS, and used it with sway bars. Mine did not even require longer pins, although it was a tight fit to get the sway bar attached.

Some years ago, I bought a WORKING 424 IH, and retired the 8N to mostly garage queen status. The quick hitch is now on the 424, and, although the photo is obviously from a bad angle, you can see the centerlink and upper part of the quick hitch visible between the seat and the LH fender.

Third Party Image

The 424 is almost "N" sized, in width and length, and has power steering, live hydraulics, a live PTO, and a diesel engine with almost twice the HP of an "N". It's quite an "upgrade". SOMEDAY, maybe I'll find time to tidy up the poor thing's grill, and paint it! (I HAVE tidied up the hydraulic hose mess the PO left next to the LH running board, since the picture was taken.)
