Hey I think I may have goofed the last time I used my 52 8N. I knew it was going to sit for awhile before I used it again so I took the 6 volt battery out so I could keep it inside nice and warm. While looking for the key the other day after two weeks sitting I couldn't find it. I went out to see if I could just jump the switch to get the old girl going to scrape the drive. I found the key in the ignition in the ON position. Apparently after shut down last time for some unknown reason I turned the key up after the engine quit then pulled the battery.

Question did I mess anything up in doing this. The old girl won't start now just drains the battery turning the starter?

No battery no hurt to any thing, but your problem is most likely the points need cleaned or replaces since sitting does funny things to the points but thats also part of life and how things work. Clean or replace the points and you should be up and running again. Plus being a side mount the coils don't burn out as easy but since you pulled the battery the coil could not burn out on you because there was no power going to it any how

if you pulled the battery at the same time you left the key on,, there is no way that there is any connection in the nonstarting tractor,,,,unless you left the key on and then a few hours later decided to take the battery out giving the points or the coil a chance to burn,

What am I missing that Dunk and others are seeing? Did you leave the key on but you went ahead then and pulled the battery out? If this is the case then nothing was hurt by leaving the key on..
