A couple of days ago my 8N was running fine, shut
it off,and when I went to restart it,all I got was a click.I thought the battery might be bad,so
I had the battery checked, turned out to be OK.
Someone told me to turn on ign sw and jump the
terminals on the solenoid and if tractor started
the solenoid was "bad".Done this and tractor started.I put on a "new"solenoid and it still does not start unless I jumper the terminals on
the "new"solenoid.Question,could the new solenoid
be bad?Is there any other test I can make? For info the new solenoid has two terms that go to the start button, tried swapping did not work.

before i did anything, i would clean and tighten all wire and cable connections.no rust-paint or corrosion, just bright, clean metal. RP

8N11450 is the proper solenoid for that tractor...the one you have described is not correct for your application..It is wired differently internally...The way you tested the solenoid would verify that the old solenoid was crap..provided that you did hear a "click" from the old solenoid when the starter button was pushed...So at this point, putting the correct solenoid on should cure your problem. Long winded as usual BDT ps that solenoid is available from this site

Well, if you can short around the solenoid, and it werks....

There is nothing to say, but the solenoid ain't doing it's job, that is what it does, thru it.
