every day I look out my front window and see an 8n rusting in the distance it sits thair with a disk and 2 bottom plow the woman who owns it says it was her husbands who parked it thair in 1988 when he passed away just a few months later she felt to much sentimental value to ever move it again since they used it on thair farm for near 40 years before they retired she is 86 now and the tractor still sits. evry now and then i see here out in the yard with one hand on the tractor standing next to it my wife turned to me and said to me I would never sell your tractor if anything ever happend to you I still have the erge to ask the older woman to sell it to me and restore it but it seems to have more value sitting right where her husband left it almost 20 years ago. p.s your a man stop cryin

I know what your going threw.Today I just brought home a 41 9N, 46 2N and a 49 8N. I have been after these tractors for 17 years. The fella that had them always told me I'm going to restore them someday. He passed a away 6 weeks ago, then his son contacted and said come get them. Alass they have sat so long I don't think there is anything left that is any good.

Maybe she'd let you charge the battery, put in some fresh fuel, and fire her up. Just hearing that 8N idle might really make that woman happy, and you too.

Down the road from me between my house and my in-law's place there is a little Allis Chalmers B that has been sitting near the driveway of this old farm house. It's been sitting uncovered in the same spot for at least 6 years or so - maybe longer. Tires are going flat, so it's fairly obvious that it isn't being used. I see it every time we go to granny's. One day last year I stopped and knocked on the door to ask about it. A middle aged lady answered the door and told me that it belonged to her father when he was alive. Before he died, she said that he had told the kids to never sell that tractor. She went on to say that she could have sold it dozens of times, but couldn't do it. I told her I understood. So there it continues to sit and rot. If he told the kids not to sell it, I don't feel that he intended for them to not take care of it either. There's a big barn that they could have put it in. Oh well.

I think you should go over and offer to fire it up and run it a bit.

I believe I'd go and tell the lady I had as much sentimental attachemnt to that tractor as she has (although for a different reason) and ask her for permission to put a simple carport over it to protect it from the weather.

If she lets you, then when it's done and she wants to thank you, just ask her to leave it to you so you can continue to take loving care of it.

Worth a shot, anyway.
