ok,i rebuilt my steering gearbox completely, everything was replaced and went together nicely except the front sector shaft splined end bushing was tight, everything else spun freely until the end when the sector shaft went in,i did not want to pump in the cornhead grease until i was sure it wasn't coming back apart so it's running virtually dry.the 8n owners manual indicates a 1.5 to 6.0 lb pull to pull to rotate the wheel is acceptable. mine is smooth but it's 7.5 to 8 lbs. any opinions out there as to if the grease will reduce the friction enough to get it below 6 lbs, with what little this tractor will get used i don't se the bushing wearing in any time soon.thanks in advance for your opinions. greg

If this is a late box, i'd say that you have the sector arm adjustments too tight,if it is sector drag, or too much bearing preload.. such as not having enough shims in between the box top and the box.
