Does anyone have an idea how long it would take for primer smell to degassify? I wanted to store my primed hood parts inside the house. Tryed it today and my lovely wife could still smell them. I am wanting to get out of my way and out of the dust, dirt, and fumes in shop.

old9, that reminds me of a joke.

This fellow buys his wike a gorilla for christmas. He gets home and she's none too pleased. She says "where's he going to live?" He said right here in the house with us. She said,"Where's he going to eat?" He said right here at the table with us. She said,"Where's he going to sleep?" He said right in the bed with us. She hollered, "what about the smell?" He said "If I could get used to it, well he can get used to it too!"

Spray-bomb paint will stink for 2 or so days at 70*, depends on the temp they are kept at.

So how long did she have to wait outside before the primer dried? :)

Sorry, I couldn't resist..... I just did the same thing myself today. Used the oven to dry a part. I usually just turn the oven on, get the temp up to 150*, turn it off, & put the part in. This time, I turned the oven on, put the part in, went to let the dog out, the phone rang....well, you know the rest of the story. Wife was, ahhhh, not happy. Part looks real good though.

In the interest of self preservation..

You may need to rethink that plan.

She will always be able to smell a tractor part in the house.

Dunk you are most likely very correct. I did have her talked into it for a few hours though. Primer was rustolem rattle can. Will try again in a few days.

Check the cure time on the can, plus modify by addatives..e tc. Naptha dries faster than Mineral spirits.. etc..
