I am rebuilding the throttle linkage assembly and cannot get the ball bearing out. I have cut a slot in it and left it standing in penetrating oil overnite. It moves easily in the socket now, but after prying the arm open a bit with a screwdriver and breaking my awl trying to pry it out, I need a different idea???

I have the same problem with the quadrant screws. I cut some slots around the screw head to try to get some penetrating oil around them---they still don't budge---help will be appreciated.

Thanks, Tim

As for the screws I used an impact screwdriver and they came out. I replaced the throttle plate because the ribs were worn down. If your's is worn I'd replace it now.

Drill a 1/16 inch hole in the top of the lever above the ball. Use a small punch to knock the ball out. Use an impact driver to get the screws out of the plate. You can also heat the the screws and let them cool several times, which expands and contracts the screw. The last time when the screw is still warm, melt some parifin wax on the screw. The wax will run down bewtween the screw and the nut.
