Hello,
I have a 1949 8n.
It was not sparking at the plugs so I traced it down to the coil and found that the secondary was open, so I replaced it. But there was still no spark. So I checked the distributor cap and rotor and found that there was no continuity between the rotor and the inside points of the distributor cap. So I replaced the distributor cap, rotor, points and condenser. But the rotor was not touching the inside points of the distributor cap when it turned. Is it supposed to be that way?
Thanks, RDAllison

Make sure the spring that sticks out under the coil is streached long enough to contact the screw head on the distributor where the condenser wire attaches.

Between rotor and cap, there should be no continuity as these components are separated by an air gap, however, the high tension spark will
cross with ease.
