Man I don't know. I have never had a set up that needed the rad blocked in cold weather if the thermostat was working properly.

Here"s a picture of mine. Some people say you can"t go straight through as the holes are offset from the outer and inner layers, But mine wasn"t that way. The peice of welding wire went right thru on mine.....HTH Tim

John..... ..dang, I told you, you can't gitt there from here.

The gastank vent is on the slanted front side of the 4"-dia dome that you can barely see looking forward from your flip-up battery door. Iff'n you had "X-ray" vision, looking down thru the hood, it would be about 10 o'clock on the dome, and the gasdoor is at 6 o'clock. Its about 1/4" hole and very popular as a nesting place for mudd-dobbers. (and other feisty beasties)

As I said, the original gascap was NON-vented because? the gastank already had a "splash-proof" vent. But iff'n you don't VENT yer tank, yer gravity feed gas system will hydraulically vacuum-lock and yer carb will DIE of starvation. EPA, OSHA, and other gov't bureaucrats didn't like Ford's 1939 design and so Ford actually did a "free" gascap recall in the 80's? I don't know iff'n it is still "active". ?Quen Sabie? ..... ..Dell

Dell: I bought a reprint of the Super C Farmall Operator's Manual when I bought my Farmall from Dad. We never found the original, not even in 1994 when we moved my grandmother out of the house she and Grandpa were living in when he bought the tractor new some fifty years earlier.

It has a warning inside the front cover about operating the tractor with the original cap, and an offer of a free replacement cap.

No, I haven't checked with my Case dealer to see if they are still giving them away...

Yes; they are still giving away the IH gas caps; for about another year I think. If (A final date has been announced but I don't know it; offhand.)

Navisitar is actually the company doing it; rather than CNH.

Speaking of gas tank vents, I enclosed my engine because I was getting too much moisture in the crankcase. I was using it all day last Saturday skidding logs. When I shut it down it was venting quite a bit of pressure and the gas tank was warm to the touch. I'm think-in the gas may have gotten a little too warm. I have a new radiator and thermostat and I always cover the grill in cold weather, but it wasn't running a warm enough temperature too keep the condensation out of the crankcase. I'll have to think of something else to keep the crankcase warm, maybe insulate it.
