i was lifting a pretty heavy load and the lift started a very loud squeal, like a dry bearing fixin to lock up, but really loud . then it quit lifting, dropped down a little and bounced up and down. then would not lift at all, unless i drop the rpm down then it lifts good. seems lower rpm would be less likely to work. am i lookin at a rebuild? thanks RP

Loud squeals from heavilly loaded HYD system generally mean a relief is opening.

Perhaps your relief opened and got crud in it and is no partially open.. or worse yet.. it has been damaged and is opening too soon.

I'd pull the inspec cover and lift it under load and see if there is alot of oil wash behind the pump.

They are cheap.. less than 30 to repalce. and CAN be done without dropping the pump or pulling the pto shaft.. but you need monkey arms and a bent wrench to do it without pulling the pto shaft. if you do pull the pto shaft.. it's not too bad.. etc.

The visual inspection of the sump is ALWAYS the best place to start looking when you have a hyds problem.

You have to have the oil at the normal level for the visual check.
