Ole..... .hard tellin' but there are center mouned implements that coulda caused rubbing and grinding thru the tranny case. Depending upon the size and your inclination, anything from drilling and tapping for some sort of "plug". If'n you decide on a plug, make it a permanent one with an alan socket plug and then J-B weld (epoxy pucky) both the threads and the socket hole. Or you could do some sort of sheet metal external patch that you permanently attached with J-B weld and some corner screws. Since the tranny case is castiron, a good welder might be the answer (maybe). Be aware, there are thermal expansion issues with welding castiron and not all welders can or do castiron. Braizeing might be an other worth while option to consider. Or maybe just insert another cotterkey and call it good..... ...Dell (grin)
