You should use copper core wire and solider the brass end on. Looks like pilot error to me. BUT I don"t necessary Practice what I preach and have graphite wires on one of my N"s 12V side mount and have not had a problem. You either had a bad connection, loose connection or the wire wuz not pushed in till it made good contact. The action of the spark have"n to jump in time eat the conductor of the wire up. clean the coil tower best you kin, a wire brush made fer this werks well and kin B found at a welding or mill supply house and even hardware stores have"em that will fit inside the coil tower.

Re: jakeup ladder . . . thats Jacobs Ladder!!! in reply to john hunt , 03-28-2007 07:38:03
John..... ...thats Jacobs Ladder!!!

Usually burned insulation is caused by "contaminates" such as "fingertip OIL". Once it starts burning, it will continue to burn 'cuz them lazy sparkies find carbon tracks eazier than jumping a sparkie-gap under compression.

NO RESISTOR block. Just replace yer sparkie-wire. you might need to replace the 3-terminal roundcan coil 'cuz its nipple is also BURNED..... ..Dell, yer self-appointed sparkie-meister

Genesis 28, vs. 10-15 in reply to Bob, 03-28-2007 08:12:09
(10) And Jacob went out from Beer-sheba, and went toward Haran.

(11) And he lighted upon a certain place, and tarried there all night, because the sun was set; and he took of the stones of that place, and put them down for his pillows, and lay down in that place to sleep.

(12) And he dreamed; and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it.

(13) And, behold, the LORD stood above it, and said, I am the Lord God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed:

(14) And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.

(15) And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of.
