I agree with the others. $500.00 would be about as much as I would be willing to risk. The only real draw on this is the Sherman. The recent rebuild? Who does a rebuild on any engine and never starts it up? I would let him make the first move and set the price he feels is fair. If he says $2,000 walk on. If he is more reasonable then you can work it out.

In the end, it"s only worth what someone is willing to pay.

Before offering anything just ask him what he wants for it.

I paid $1500 for my 9N a few years back.
It came with a rear blade -- and an 8 volt battery ;-( .

So on yours: Subtract $700 for bad tires ($300 for each rear and $50 for each front) Subtract $200 for no rear blade.

We get $1500- $900 we get a value of $600 assuming running condition.

With other problems --- offer $500 if he can get it running first.

See what you can buy a running one for (Ebay, paper) If you can buy one for $1500 that works that gives you some barganing power . If the motor was rebuilt and never started it would be a BIG red flag to me .There must be something major wrong for someone to go to the effort of rebuilding and not get it running . I dont know this Motivated Seller , but I know if I really wanted to get something sold for lots of money I would get it running to increase the price . Con men usually sound better than an Honest seller .

$ bad tires brings it down a good bit. I would offer $250 for it and then go from there. You can always start low and go up but you can never start high and go down. If you do get it fill the cylinders with tranny fluid and let it sit a week or so, then with the plugs out put a good 12 volt battery in, do not turn on the switch and then hit the starter button with short fast taps, it will porbably pop loose then you can go from there to get it running

$500 is a good start. Go up to $900 if ye want it really bad, but that would be tops.

Non-runners around here, southern Missouri, sell for around $500. The Sherman, if it is a combo, adds a little value to the mix, but not a significant amount. From your description, you are looking at a serious investment to get this old piece of iron operational again. Have you priced tires, tubes, dismounting and mounting costs lately? I wish my paycheck had gone up that much! If I were you, I'd offer the gentleman $500 to $600 and see what his response is. It is always easier to move up a bit than to start high and then try to come down. Hope you get her at the price that is comfortable to both of you.
Jerry

I would start low. How bad do you want it? How bad does he want to sell it? $500 for a non runner. Less if you think he will take it. You will spend twice that getting it running and new tires.
Not much help Marty
