Today I started to send the fenders and in the middle o the process i realize that behind the braces was never painted even from the factory , reason is the rivets which are pressed hot , so I decide to cut the rivets off and take a lock what was behind ,,, Zero paint and rust ready to go true the fenders , I think I save the fenders by doing this . To reinstall I wheel get carriage bolt made in stainless I see them for a price $4/ pic plus another $2 for a nut. I fully recommend doing this procedure.

I too am working on my rear fenders on my '49 8N, but I'm worried about damaging the fenders/frames if I cut off the old rusty nuts/bolts. How'd you do it without damaging anything?

Drill into the head until it falls off. I'm not sure what bolt or rivet you are talking about but if its a 1/4 inch bolt use a 1/4 or even 5/16 inch drill bit. As you drill into it the head will eventually come completely off the shank before you hit the fender sheet metal. You might have to punch the shank out after doing this.
