Last week I rebuilt the complete throttle linkage and fixed a persistant idle problem and the governor. The tractor is now running great so today I decided to check out the brakes and seals on the 49N.

The brakes looked good but both hubs were wallowed out a bunch and had been "fixed" with what looked like thin sheet metal shims and a lot of permatex. I replaced the old rear seals and ordered new hubs (expensive).

As long as both rear tires were off, I started to remove the surface rust, which was pretty bad along the outer part of both rims. Hoping tomorrow will be warm enough to get a coat of primer on.

While cleaning up a bit I noticed I had caught something in the pre-cleaner earlier in the day!

Now it's time for a few cold ones----Tim

Looks (and sounds) like you're making great progress Tim!

I got my new cam and weights assembly for Eleanor's distributor yesterday. I'm looking forward to trying it out, but will have to wait until next weekend.

Colin--ain't it a bummer running back and forth trying to work on tractors. This "city" tractor has been a joy to work on as it is sitting right in my garage---won't get up to the farm until week after next, and then just about every weekend thru July.

Did you ever do anything with either of the 2 loaders?

Tim
