My 8N '49 model, 4sp is stuck in gear(s). Raising the rear wheels free did not make any difference. Of the 2 shifter plates inside the outer one (large) is free, the one under it is stuck tight. Anyone have a suggestion, please.

Sometimes if the gears are jammed extremely tight due to engine torque and/or some bearing wear. You may have to use a pry bar to move them back to normal position. I have had some jammed tight that took some force with a hammer and long brass bar so as to get as close to the gear hub as possible to lessen chance of breaking the gear. Look at the shifter gates on the tranny top, corners worn off will cause it to get in two gears at once. They can be mig welded up and ground back to original shape.
