What size is the brass nuts that hold the manifold tight on an 8n.Are they standard or fine threads.Boy those things wont take much torque lol. R.M. In AL.

RM..... ..yep, brass-nuts are weaker'n stainless. (but not by much) Yer manifold BRASS-NUTS are size 7/16-20 (SAE fine-thread) And YES, yer brass-nuts are supposed to strip. Yer manifold studs are torqued to 40ft/lbs and BRASS-NUTS torqued to softer 27ft/lbs. This way, when you remove yer corroded brass-nuts, yer studs stay in the block and don't pee anti-freeze all over the place.

7/16-20x5/8 brass nuts, 27 lbs of torque. Use washers.

5/16 SAE (fine thread.) You might also try Stainless Steel nuts. I've had to saw off the brass nuts - for some reason they shrunk onto the studs.
