My 2N started and ran for about 30 seconds and died never to run again. T went through the electrical and fuel systems and corrected a weak spark. Cold weather came and just now got to it again. The first thing I did was check compression and found none (ZERO) on all 4 cylinders. It would suggest trouble with the camshaft or timing gear. Since both are major surgery and the condition of the tires, steering, brakes, oil seals, etc. are not the best it would be better to retire or part out. Would appreciate any suggestions.

I'll almost bet you have either stuck rings and or valves. What I would do before giving up on it is fill the cylinders with tranny fluid and let it sit a week or so then recheck compression. I'll bet the compression comes up after that then go from there.

Even with the camshaft not turning, it should show compression on 1 or 2 cyl. Pull off the side covers &see if the valves are stuck open.

As a rule, every wearing part on these tractors is replaceable.

The engine can be brought back to good condition, if necessary, with parts that are very available. Pistons, rings, sleeves, bearings, guides, lifters, valves. Sure it costs some $$ but think of the sense of accomplishment if you breathe some new life into the old gal again!

Anyway, maybe it's only the cam drive gears.
