I used star washers under the mounting bolt. Did not run a separate ground wire. Works well. I'm sure it depends on the jount between the hood and the doglegs.

Rich..... .there is a very good reason for running separate ground wires for your INOP lites; its called RUSTY JOINTS. You don't wanna run a separate ground wire? Then take apart yer rusty jointed hood doglegs and clean the rusty seam. Then repaint the seam so it don't rust again. Then take apart yer rusty lite bucket and clean the rust. Then repaint yer lite bucket. Oh yeah, remember paint is an INSULATOR. Gitt the hint??? Run the ground wire. 6 or 12 volts don't matter, RUN THE GROUND WIRE..... .Dell

Dog legs are also grounded to where they bolt on down below. Not sure paint matters between the dog leg and the hood.
