I have 6 Ns. I paid $200, $200, free, $600, and $1600, and $1900. I have so much money in each that I couldn't sell any of them without loosing money. Even the free one ($2800 in it now). I call this a hobby. If anyone gives me three more "free" ones I'll be bankrupt. Do I need help? ~~ BB

Uh, nothing. The hardest part is explaining your "investment" to the other half. I say if it keeps you out of bars and from chasing skirts, it is a good investment. I have two 8ns, a naa, and a JD 60 and I might drag home the 851 across the street. BTW if you think the cost to restore Fords is high, wait untill you try a JD!

Explaining to the Mrs. isn't a problem. My wife comes home from work and says, "Where did that come from?"

It is difficult to diagnose your condition without additional information to determine if you meet "Bruce's Rule of Minimum Tractor Sufficiency".

Here is the Rule:

"A man has the minimum required number of tractors when the number of tractors is greater than the number of acres he owns, or the number of garages, or the number of implements."

I have 10 acres, 6 garages/pole barn bays & 11 implements & only 3 tractors. I am seriously under-tractored. I need at least 8 more to meet the minimum requirements.

You're normal; don't worry about it. (Notice that I've purposely avoided telling you about me and my tractors!)

You just have the addiction that we all do to some extent. I don't have any N's, but I'm up to ahh... 8 tractors now, from a '53 Golden Jubilee to an '89 TW35. I've been told that I can keep buying them as long as I sell some and make a profit on them... but I've bought 4 in the last 18 months and only sold 1. I kinda like the idea of one implement per tractor to save time hitching and unhitching... but then I'd need more than 20 tractors. And a lot bigger shed.

You think "N" tractors are expensive to keep up, try a shop full of Harleys. My 8N is nothing to work on compared to one of them. Come to think of it, the 8N is safer as well.It won't fall over at stop signs LOL..... ..... .DaBrow

Wow that's alot of tractors LOL...You could be doing worse things with your money... Good fun is how I look at it. Keeps me busy. I try not to dig in if it is not broke. Just finished a brake job. I need those for my hills. I gear down most of the time. But I do alot of backing and dumping with my dirt scoop. Im going to use it for a while now. Make it earn its keep!!! Plus its fun :)

All you got to do is find some way to put them to work for you. I've had My 1950 8n with backhoe and loader since 1982, and i figure it's earned somewhere around $25,000 so far, just doin little odds and ends for me and others.

Name a hobby that's not expensive. This one is cheaper than owning horses, any kind of racing, gambling, show cars, and many others.
