Hello everyone. I have A TO20 ferguson and wanted to know if the lift cylinder piston in the parts section of this site for the 2N 8N and 9N ford is the one that will also work in my ferguson. If so which end of the piston would get the backing washer or which side of the O ring should I say would the washer go on. thanks for any help.Robert

I don't know if the piston is the same or not ( I think the CYL IS different.. for whatever that's worth ).

However.. as to the oring and washer.. the leather washer is there to back-up the oring and keep it from being cut by the piston groove when under pressure.

The piston will have an open end and a clased end. the closed end goes into the cyl.. the open end aims out of the cyl for the dogbone to fit into. the leather washer goes toward the open end.. and if there is a smooth/rough side.. I like to put the smooth side towards the metal.. and the rough side towards the oring,. The oring thus goes towards the closed end. As hyd pressure is applied from the inside of the cyl, oil is forced against the oring, which is forced against the leather, which is forced against the metal. At least for the ford applications, there was a rubber backup washer available to replace the leather one if you prefered.

As said above.. check to see that you are getting the right parts. Off the top of my head.. I don't know what intercahnges.. etc.
