Someone just gave me a set of brake shoes for a late model 8n (a tractor that I don't have) Now I have to buy another tractor.

same problem in reply to Ball Bearing, 04-10-2007 06:39:40
I'm changing the crankpulley on my 8N. I couldn't find a 5/8X1-18 grade 8 bolt locally so I had my daughter pick on up for me. She lives in the city and was coming to our house for Easter anyway.

Problem is she bought TWO bolts. I thought I had to buy another tractor for the extra bolt but luckily I screwed up the threads on the first one while trying to shave the head.

Don't you just hate problems like those?

The good news: 8Ns and NAAs are not hard to find.

You are on the right track. The last time i picked up a tractor manual to a tractor i dind't have ( 9n/2n ).. well.. I got a tractor to match the manual within a year ( 46 2N ). Same thing happened a while back.. i bought a FEL frame at a junk dealer.. 3 months later I had to get a tractor to mount it to...

Fast forward to yesterday... I picked up an 601/801 owners manual... and I don't own a 601/801...

I'm gettin kinda worried right about now.. (grin)

Good luck on your soon to be 8n purchase.

Be grateful it's a little Ford. I had a friend buy a shifter knob at a flea-market once, for a JD 730, and it took a bit of money to find the tractor to fit that knob.

But somtimes ya gatta do what ya gotta do.

Nothing wrong with a GREEN 730, and a good investment!

I have owned 4 of the big DEERE diesels... 830, 730, 720, and an "R". Unfortunately, they got sold, at one time or another, when a family medical crisis came up.

I still keep looking for a DEAL, as I want to own one again someday, but no luck!
