A Locke man was arrested immediately following his Cayuga County Court sentencing Thursday on the fresh allegation he possessed a stolen tractor. Richard Rossignol, 38, of 288 Tucker Hill Road, was charged by the Cayuga County Sheriff"s Office with the felony of third-degree criminal possession of stolen property and the misdemeanor of giving a false written statement. He was arrested in the Cayuga County Courthouse after his sentencing by Cayuga County Judge Thomas Leone. A 1951 Ford 8N tractor and other items were stolen from a seasonal residence on Lick Street in Summerhill last November. Detective Brian Schenck found the tractor Friday, March 30, in a scrapyard in Cortland and he was able to connect Rossignol to its possession before it wound up in the scrapyard, Detective Lt. Joseph Weeks reported. A red brush mower that was originally attached to the tractor was found near Rossignol"s residence on Tucker Hill Road March 13, Weeks said. Rossignol was arraigned in Moravia Town Court, where his bail was set at $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond. His case is pending in Locke Town Court because it was within Locke that Rossignol allegedly possessed the stolen tractor. In a separate case, Rossignol was sentenced Thursday to four months of weekend time in Cayuga County Jail, three years of probation and restitution for the misdemeanor of second-degree criminal contempt. Rossignol violated a court order of protection by smashing out the rear window of a pickup truck owned by a woman protected by the order.
