I noticed on Zane's website that the adjusting jig refers to the 8N. Does this jig work for the 2N? Is it necessary for the 2N?

It is not for any tractor other than the 8N. The 9N and 2N don't need much in the way of adjusting. First the draft spring and it's seat need to be right. The seat should not be concave or bent or broken and the spring should be tight enough that you can barely turn it with the bare hand.
Then the only adjustment is to loosen the four bolts that hold the quadrant to the side of the lift housing and bump the quadrant either forward or backward along the elongated holes that the bolts are in to either raise the point where the lift operates or lower it. Do this with the tractor running and something on the lift so you will know where the touch control is begining to raise the lift.
When you get the touch control about a third of the way from the top and the lift begins to raise tighten the bolts.
