Just came in from discing my garden again. Just a little bit wet, but I finally planted a row of onions. If it don't rain tonight or tomorrow I plan on planting some cukes, corn, okra, and maybe some tomato and pepper plants tomorrow or Friday.

Have yall ever grown any red okra?

It tastes just like green okra, but does seem to grow a bit better for me.

I usually plant Texas Longhorn okra. The pods can get as long as 6 inches & still be just as tender as the 3 inch Clemson spineless. I always freeze the seed over night & then let it soak in warm water for 2 or 3 hours before I plant it. Solves the poor germination problem!

I'll be turning up the rows for the peppers & tomatoes tomorrow & getting the plastic down. It's supposed to be 80* Monday, so I'll set the plants out then. English peas, cabbage, collards, onions, Irish potatoes are all slow; been too cold. I don't plant okra or sweet potatoes around here until mid-May. Asparagus is doing ok. I just ordered 24 Arapaho blackberries from some folks in Bailey NC, around Wilson.
