Like Dell said. Factory paint was the least expensive 'Henry' could find....not all greys, or reds are the same from production date to production date. There are MANY 'codes'. Your tractor.

Sometime in the last few years, Tim posted this, which gives each part and the 9N-2N color and the 8N color. It's a little hard to figure out but usable.

While both the starter motor and the 3rd-brush genny were spray painted the same industrial battleship gray on the assembly line; REBUILT starters and gennys are painted BLACK by the rebuilders. Me? I say its yer tractor, paint'em enny color that pleases you..... ..Dell, the 20/20 painter (looks good at 20ft or 20mph)

None of those parts were black on the 9N or 2N. On s/n 9N 150251 (a 1944 2N), they would be the same color gray as the tractor.
