Hi folks,
Got a '52 8N sn499996 12v that I'm slowly getting into shape. Got the manuals, cruised the forums, learned a lot but still have few questions. Carb adjust instructions by Dell and others make sense but I'm having trouble trying to put the carb adjustments and the governor adjustments together. I replaced both so need to make them happy with each other but posts and manuals seem to treat them as distant cousins. Any wisdom from the masters? thanx

What exactly is the engine doing that makes you think the governor and carb are not happy together?

Just not sure which to adjust first. Seems like adjusting one throws the other one off. I can"t see any difference at all when adjusting the idle mix. It runs good under any load but does not have a smooth enough idle to really tell any thing about it. thanx

Dan..... ....always adjust yer carb LAST. Eff'n yer governor upsets yer carb, DISCONNECT yer carb-to-governor rod (as you must know, they "snap" apart, and is adjustable for a no tension, snap-together length)

Always adjust yer carb for FASTEST IDLE, not smoothest idle. Understand? Remember yer side-pointing idlemix is BASSACKWARDS; out for lean, IN for ENRICH. My idlemix is about 1/4 turn. Yours should be close for a SLOOOooow 400rpms idle..... ..Dell

What was wrong with your old governor ? Do you still have it laying around ? I could use one to rebuild for backup on my 52 8n project(name-Basket Case) . Email me at callj.j.s@verizon.net . Good luck & God bless . Ken
