Help, I don't know alot about this but was digging a little dirt with my dearborn front loader with the front mounted pump which runs off the crank. It made a loud screeching noise and won't function. It looks like pins that go into crank pulley pulled out any suggestions on how to get them back in and why did they come out? any suggestions Help!

Some of those loaders used a shaft and hub that had 4 pins in the hub which went into four holes on the crank pulley. The four holes in the crank pulley have rubber bushings in them. The hub screws onto the shaft and it is left hand threads. Where the pump is bolted to the loader is what holds the shaft/hub against the engine pully. You may need to replace the 4 rubber bushings in the crank pulley.

outback, the pins your seeing, are probably the bolts that hold the pump drive to the front pulley. The only thing you can do is pull the loader hood and front axle and replace them. It isn't the first time I've seen this there's a guy 10 miles from me with a 8n with the same trouble. Hopefully it didn't tear up the pump drive win the bolts came out. Not an easy fix, but a simple one. John

Thanks John, as soon as it gets a little lighter outside I should be able to get a better look at it. Do the bolts thread into the pulley or are there nuts behind pulley? From what I could see last night I didn"t see any threads thats why I thought they were pins. Do you know of a web site that might have a diagram and instructions on how to fix?

The holes in the pulley are threaded. No I do not. but a manuel for that tractor would tell you. availible here.

Outback...like Tom mentioned, some of the hub assemblies do use pins instead of screws. You'll have to get at yours to see which you have.

Did the pins just shear off, or is something loose?

Jeff

Hi jeff, it looks like the pins pulled out and the rubber sleeves are about gone. also looks like there may be some extra wear on the pulley holes. Sorry it took me so long to get back to you but have been out of town. I'm going to start disassembling today. Thanks for the reply
