MY 51 8N HAS A PAN SEAT BUT HAS A DIFFERENT SUSPENSION THAN I HAVE SEEN ON ANY OF OTHERS I HAVE SEEN. IT BOLTS TO THE TRANS CASE IMMEDIATLY BEHIND THE SHIFT LEVER WITH A SHOCK JUST PAST THE MT. & THE BIG COIL SPRING UNDER THE PAN SEAT. IS THIS OEM FORD?? OR AFTER MARKET?? THANKS,
DON

This seat was made by Knoedler Manufactures, Inc., Streator, Illinois it was on a 1952 8N I had once. There are several diferent types that were put on as a after market add on. Mark H.

Does it look like this? This is a Monroe (as in the shock company) EZ-Ride seat. This was a dealer installed option. Do a search of the archives here to follow my challenges and info on how to repair and restore it.

My 8N has one like that except the shock goes towards the back and connects to the "ear" on the right side of the top link. This seat was originally on my dad's 9N and when he traded up (1955) he made the dealer put this seat on the 8N. The mounting brackets did not fit the transmission, so they put a couple of bolts up through the top cover of the 8N. Is mine also a Monroe? Sorry - I'm not where it is to take a photo.

There were two versions of the original Monroe EZ-Ride seat. One for the 9N (the kind you had) and the 8N (pictured). they mounted a tad different, but were made by the same company.
