A friend of mine has found a 53 Jubilee for $2000. (He's in his late eighties and doesn't want it) I'm going to look at it tomorrow. Only problem is - if it's good, then I'll have to sell my 51 8N. It's in good shape, the engine was rebuilt last year, hydraulics are good etc. What do you guys think? are the advantages of the Jubilee great enough to justify the sale of the 8N? BTW this is a great forum; I've read it for about two years now and gained a world of information. That's why I'm asking you guys about the trade-off. Thanks in advance. Pete

For only $2000 you'll be sorry you didn't keep both tractors.

I have, and do, own both. The 8N is a much more nimble tractor and is easier to control around obsticles. The NAA however, is a HUGE improvement in both the hydraulic control and power. My 1952 8N workhorse would chug a bit in thick high grass with my old 5' mower. The NAA plows through this and hardly even uses the governor. If you drop into a low spot when mowing with an 8N and the mower gets stuck and stops the blades, you cannot raise the mower (because the PTO shaft has to be turning for the hydraulics to work, and the PTO shaft will not turn if the blades are stuck). This happened to me once and was tough to get out of. Since the NAA has live hydraulics that run off the engine, you can always raise the mower regardless of what the PTO is doing. The 8N was very easy to maneuver around all my trees, the NAA can't turn on a dime like the 8N.

Overall, I have not been dissapointed that I replaced my workhorse 8N with my NAA. It is hard to beat raw power.

I agree witht he others.

First.. a NAA gets you a few more hp.. and live hyds.

If your 8n has a fresh engine.. and the NAA is worn out.. your 8n may be more tractor.

Also.. make sure the NAA has either a good working vane pump.. or the updated piston pump.

As with the others.. 2k$ is good price for the NAA.. if it runs good.. you could resell for more if you didn't like it. Get it.. compair them.. and keep both or sell the one you don't want.

Why sell the 8N. Everybpdy needs two tractors. At least buy the Jubilee, at that price, and keep 'em bothlong enuf to decide which ye want to keep. Sounds like ye can make money on the Jubilee if ye don't want it later.

if the jubilee's good, buy it, then you can compare the 2 yourself, i like mine ive had it about 11 years and i work it almost every day, the main advantage is more power and live hydraulics, at that price if you do have to sell one of your tractors, either one will get you your money back if their in good shape

I prefer the NAA, but to each his own. Depends on what you get, or have to give up. You get definately more tractor.

If it's good, and you can get it for that price, maybe you wouldn't HAVE to sell the 8N? (REMEMBER, a man can NEVER have too many tractors!)
