I need to replace the points on my 8N but all the points that I get for the distributor do not match what is in it...Maybe i have a after market distributer The points dont seem to be what I see in the manual...thanks

never mind I went down to the local tractor dealer in town and we found the propper points. they wer for a case tractor so i guess that is where the distributor came from...thanks everyone

Now you got folks assuming it must be a side mount..

Assume, A$$ outa U an me.

You might have a '71 Pinto distributor on there.

Just kidding, but some of the others can tell you just what it might be.

sorry... yes it is a side mount with a serial # 8n340*** I have a pictur of the existing one if that would help

I don't remember what, but there has been some discussion here about junk yard replacements.

Some of the big dogs will answer your question.

I will in the meantime sit on the porch, and try my best to recall the answers next time.

Does your 8N have a front-mount or a side-mount distributor, and are you buying points for the correct version?
