My recently purchased 8N had this pin holding the r side axel to the center axel in place of a bolt and I thought whut the.... and had a Nail in the cotter pin hole, and was all painted red. Turns out it is the pin that is supposed to hold the radius rod to the axel. So now the other side has a different bolt for the radius rod. Oh yea Bubba put the wheel seals in backwards and now the bearings are rust pitted (SHOT) from water in the hub . Geez what else am I gonna find !

It sounds like Bubba is taking "farmerization" to new heights (depths?) of inventiveness!. Maybe the pin in the front axle is to make changing widths easier...lol! Let's hope you don't have too many more surprises.

I'm sure the pin did help adjusting the width, But should've been removed afterwards. By the time I got it years had passed and the pin had rusted in place, and was a real bugger to get apart !

My haying friend bought a bubbaized Hesston 620 swather. The engine power is transmitted to the hydraulic motors via a a double cardan U joint. The splined shaft it slide onto was worn and so were the splines in the yoke. Some bubba welded the yoke to the shaft! I hope he never needs to remove it.
