I wonder if anyone can help me with a throttle problem. I have a side mount 8N and when the tractor get under load, the throttle drops down - i.e. the handle on the dash flops down like it doesn want to stay in one place. I see a spring at the base of the throttle linkage and ot looks okay tho cant really get to it too easy as I have a loader on. Any ideas??

Redtail: I had the same problem last year and I had a missing governor compensating spring. I installed a new governor compensating spring and the problem went away. GA Jim

NO CORK FRICTION DISC... the 8n uses a quadrant and handle that has a little BB in it to rub across.

Lots of things happen.. the bb gets flattened.. or falls out.. the quadrant becomes worn.. or the spring down there becomes loose.

BB can be replaced if you work at it. The quadrant can be built up or re-gouged.. a dremel tool helps.. or a solder iron.. or brassing rod.. etc...

There is a cork friction disk under the throttle disk on my NAA. I think your 8N will have one too. It is adjustable with a castle nut and cotter key, but my guess is that it's gone.
