Good Morning,

Need to replace the front tire on my Craftsman 15.5 HP lawn tractor. OEM is a tubeless 15x6x6 Turf tire. Anyone have any brand or purchase location suggestions. Near by Stores include Sears, Lowes, TSC.

Getting close to spending more money on this 15 year old tractor than its worth. I really would like just to get a finish mower to hook up to the 1953 Ford, but I have would have to purchase a set of turf tires, dont really want to spend that kind of money right now.

Thanks

Randy in Michigan

I suggest Northern Tool if there is one close. When I needed to buy two rear tires for the Craftsman (KOHL) 42" mower I check TSC and Northern Tool. The Norther Tool was cheaper, bought two, took it to Discount Tire, they mounted them for $5.00 each. Then added the green slime ourselves.

I second Old's tube suggestion. I have an old 12 HP riding mower kicking around with 3 tubes inside the tubeless tires. The tubes cost $5 each from my local tire guy vs $25 or $30 for a new tire.

Also, because the tires are so worn, the tubes seem to get punctured a lot. TSC sells some green goopy stuff that you put in the tires and it seals the holes. It's worked for me.

Hope this helps,
TooTall

Went to TSC Saturday to get a tube for the 4.25 x 10 tubeless tire on my wheel barrow. It was cracked and leaking. New tube $12, new tire with tube $18. I popped for the extra $6.

YMMV,

Any Walmart that sells/installs tires will have them also.

Randy:

Most TSC stores carry a good selection of lawn tractor tires.

Alternatively, you can order from Sears Parts over the phone but will probably pay more and will pay shipping.

Well if that tire just leaks a lot from small holes you could always put a tube in it, tubes will cost maybe $10 and a new tire can be around $30. I've done that a lot of times. Shoot my old troy bilt tiller still has the same tires on it that came on it back in 1972, one goes flat all the time and I'm just going to put a tube in it and run it that way, just need to get around to it, I have the tube and have for more then a year just haven't taken the time to put it in yet, maybe one of these days I'll get around to it
