OK guys this is where we are at ..... ...I changed out or checked everything we talked about..... ...key switch, plugs, plug wires, pertronix unit, coil, resistors, etc and it still bogs down with a load..... ...last time after I checked everything and it did it again with my harrow..... I noticed that if I put the clutch in it didn"t respond but if I pushed the throttle lever down to idle and then back up ..... it went back to full rpms..... ..I then got off the tractor and tried to operater the throttle manually at the carb..... when I opened it all the way up it did the sputtering thing again but if I let off of it....it would run fine....I again tried to goose it and it sputtered and when I again let off a bit it started runnin fine again..... .

so obviously its the carb eventhough I rebuilt it but what part?

Dell..... .....I checked the governor and it does fight when you pull on it..... .....also when it works good going down hills if that means anything..... .

a screw wouldn't all of a sudden grow would it? because the tractor has been working fine for quit awhile after I replaced the coil and just all of a sudden started this crap..... ..

I'm gonna call pertronix and see if they have anything to say ..... ....

Ron..... ... repeat after me; IT AIN'CHUR CARB!!!, based upon yer description, its either yer governor or yer distributor centrifugal advance. Keep yer ittchy-twitchy fingers away from them handy-dandy carb tweek'ems. UNDERSTAND???

Right now, I'd say yer governor balls are flat-spotted and yer balls-race is grooved.

Grab yer carb to governor throttle rod and try and "JAZZ" yer engine while at about 1/3 throttle. Does it "fight" you? NO?, its yer governor. Simple eh?

Howsomevers, worn centrifugal advance pivot points underneath yer points plate can also effect the power and miss at high rpms.

Sometimes, inexperienced points replacers use TOO LONG screw to hold the points and block the centrifugal advance causing weak power at high rpms. Check yer points screw MUST BE SHORT #8-32x3/16. (p/n: 355047-S7, $50c cheap)

You replaced yer sparkie wires. Make certain yer firing order is correct. 1,2,4,3 CCW. Usually neubies swap #3&4 sparkies..... ..Dell, yer self-appointed sparkie-meister

I'm not either one, but I would sure check to make sure that the rod going to the governor was hooked up correctly and that the governor was working okay.
