My tractor SER # 9N-53341, I make this a 1941, Vertical Grill, Rivets on rear wheel Hubs, Bulbs in Headlights.

New Holland Parts.
Condenser: Part # APN120000A , New Condenser spade lug crimping was defective, The Black Insulation should be crimped (close to Wire) and the second Crimp (closest to Spade Lug) should be crimped to bare wire. This is a common factory defect and you should check the condenser before installing, if you see black insulation at both crimps the electrical contact is defective. (I just opened the crimps, stripped and soldered the Second Crimp)

Ballast Resister: #A8NN12250A The Price of this part is ridiculous, I paid 33.45 (Can) or (24.45 US) for this $3.00 part. The Resister that I tested in New Jersey was from a 1972 Dodge (starting side of dual) and it was a match for the data that Eric posted. What Napa Part Numbers are been used ?? I am going to make up a cheap replacement for my tractor that provides 3.0V at the Coil

Wheels Turn'n

Remember that, IMO, the data for CT resistor I measured indicated the resistor would work poorly in the 9/2/8Ns. The resistance was too high and dropped too much voltage, short changing the coil. Which is why I believe dave had to use two in parallel. Don't match it or make up one that matches it. Take a ground up look at the design. Also, the nichrome wire or other alloy, is easy enough to find, but what are you considering for the "ballast" part of it? Ceramic rod? Sounds interesting! Almost fun! Inquiring minds...

Phil: CT has them for $5.95 Part number 34841-020/8NE10306. Most automobile resistors are the constant temperature type because they use a bypass scheme while the engine is cranking. The CT part has a .5 ohm resistance at room temp. Chrysler employs a temp sensitive resistor similar to the one used on the 8N. Donor Vehicle Chrysler, Dodge, Plymouth Imperial all models 1967 - 1973. Resistor .50 - .60 Ohms at 25C.
