I got the 8N running finnally but after a few minutes it starts to sputter and pop and seems like it wants to die.
I adjusted the idle mixture screw and it ran better so when I tried to drive it for awhile it continued to sputter and pop loud.
I checked the fuel flow and it has alot of fuel pouring out float bowl. I replaced coil and new plugs last night.
Any ideas why it is running then stalling?
please help!
Thanks so much!

Is this a 6v or 12v? The diagnostics on each are different, so it would be helpful if you would state that up front. You say it is a 1952, so that means it has the distributor on the side of the engine, is that correct? If you have been in the distributor lately, and messed w/ the plug wires, you have two likely problems. First, check the firing order; it's 1-2-4-3, from the front of the engine to the back. Trace each wire from the plug to the cap; firing order is CCW. Next, remove the cap & recheck the point gap. They do slip. You say you have fuel pouring out of the float bowl....what does that mean? The only place you should see fuel is if you have removed the bolt on the bottom of the carb. If you have fuel coming out of the carb throat, you have another set of problems. Lastly, means you have tried to adjust the carb, my suggestion is that you start over again & follow Dell's instructions.Below is from Dell; I followed his suggestions on all three of my N's, which idle at 400 rpm:

Heres the deal, much to the dismay of gov't smog bureacrats, every carb and engine needs indivual carb ajdustment. Thats why theres them handy-dandy carb tweek'ems.

Both Ford and Marvel/Schebler say to set both the side-pointing idlemix and the down-pointing mainjet to 1-turn as a starting point. I set the down-pointing mainjet to 1-1/2 turns and LEAVITT!!!

Then adjust the side-pointing idlemix for FASTEST idle; NOT SMOOTHEST idle. Understand? FASTEST idle. Then adjust the behind the carb idle-speed set-screw for SLOOOooow 400-rpms idle. Do that idlemix adjust for maximum idle at least 3-times.

Remember the side-pointing idlemix is BASSACKWARDS; out for lean, IN for ENRICH. Mine usually end up about 1/4-turn. Yours may be different.

As as side-note; one of the founding N-Board members used to claim 80% of all carb problems were found in the ignition system. Something to think about..... ...Dell, yer self-appointed sparkie-meister

Post back if you can't get it running.

The system is 6 volt.
I have never pulled sparkplug wires off so the firing order is correct as it ran last year no problems.
The fuel is coming out the float bowl with the bolt out of the float bowl, not flowing out all over the place, just when i drain.
The only thing i could not check was the points as it was too dark at that point.
It runs better when its driving with choke on and at idle with the choke off.
if that helps?

How did you replace the spark plugs w/o removing the wires? Yes, a points problem can cause it to run better w/ the choke pulled out some. It enriches the mixture.

Pull one plug back out and with the key on turn it over and make sure you have a good brite blue spark. When you set the points what did you set them at?? Since its a sdie mount they need to be set at .025, and if you set them at .015 which is for the fornt mount that could be part of your problem

Did you replace the points, and are you confident that the points went in correctly? How much have you messed with the carb settings? Are the plug wires in good shape?

Popping sounds like timing advanced too far, idle mixture sounds like it could be carb settings. With that new coil, you might be seeing bad wires now.
